A Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care, Dr. Karagiannis has extensive experience in, but not limited to, the stabilization of severe traumas, intoxications, envenomations, transfusion medicine, cardiac emergencies and acute pancreatitis. As a critical care specialist he has particular interest in sepsis and advanced respiratory disease requiring mechanical ventilation.

Dr. Karagiannis received his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from the University of Missouri College of Veterinary Medicine in 1998. He began his veterinary career gaining valuable experience in Saint Louis as both an animal emergency and a general practice veterinarian. With the desire to advance his education and training, Dr. Karagiannis completed his residency at the University of Missouri College of Veterinary Medicine in 2006.

Dr. Karagiannis leads the emergency and critical care team and, as such, has mentored three residents here at VSS. He is an adjunct professor for the University of Missouri College of Veterinary Medicine, assisting in the training of veterinary students.
