Diplomate, American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine (Oncology)
Dr. Shirley Chu joined VSS in 2024, bringing advanced specialty training and a strong commitment to both clinical oncology and translational research. She earned her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from the Western College of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Saskatchewan in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan.
Following veterinary school, Dr. Chu completed a Small Animal Rotating Internship, a Medical Oncology Residency, and a PhD at the University of Missouri in Columbia, Missouri. During her advanced training, she gained extensive experience managing complex cancer cases while working collaboratively within multidisciplinary specialty teams to deliver comprehensive patient care.
Dr. Chu’s professional interests include clinical research and cancer genomics, with a focus on advancing personalized, evidence-based treatment options for veterinary patients. She is an active member of the Veterinary Cancer Society and the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine, reflecting her dedication to continued learning and excellence in veterinary oncology. She continues to pursue collaborative research initiatives with colleagues at the University of Missouri and Washington University in St. Louis.
